The guest service fee
A 12% service fee, already inside the total price a guest sees. 6% when you return within 12 months to a home you have stayed at.
Guests pay one service fee of 12% of the accommodation subtotal. It covers card processing, secure payment handling and the people who help when something goes wrong. Hosts pay no host fee.
It is always inside the total
The price a guest sees in search results and on the listing is the total for their dates with the service fee included. The checkout breakdown shows Accommodation, Service fee (12%) and Total, and the total is the same figure they saw at the start. No fee ever appears for the first time at checkout. Under the service fee it says: "No host fees, so prices can be lower than on other platforms."
Returning guests
If you are returning to a home where you completed a stay in the last 12 months, your service fee is 6%. The listing and the checkout say "Welcome back: returning guest service fee 6%". Another home by the same host does not count.
Founding Host stays
Stays with a Founding Host have the same service fee. The Founding Host's 0% is their host fee.
Government levies
In Victoria and the ACT a state short stay levy applies to some stays. It is a government charge, not our fee, and it is shown as its own named line inside the total. See Victorian and ACT short stay levies.
Refunds
If a booking is cancelled under the host's policy, the service fee is refunded in the same proportion as the accommodation.
