OzGetaways Gives
$2 from every booking goes to local charities through OzGetaways Gives$2 a booking for local charities
Every confirmed stay on OzGetaways gives $2 to a local cause, chosen by where the stay is. It comes out of our fee. It is never added to the guest’s price and never taken from the host’s payout.
The running total
OzGetaways guests have given
$42
Pledged and paid, from confirmed stays. Reversed pledges from fully refunded bookings are not counted.
How it works
- A booking is confirmed$2 is pledged from our fee on that booking, to the cause for the stay’s region, or shared across the causes.
- It shows on the bookingCheckout and the confirmation name where it goes, such as “We give $2 from our fee to reef water quality.” or “We give $2 from our fee to local charities through OzGetaways Gives.”
- A full refund reverses itIf a booking is cancelled with a full refund, its pledge is reversed, so the total only counts stays that went ahead.
- We pay the charitiesPledges are paid to the charity partners in batches, and the total above is updated from our records.
A $2,000 stay costs the guest exactly what the total says. The $2 is part of what OzGetaways earns on it, not an extra.
The causes
- Reef coast
- Reef water quality. Stays on the Queensland reef coast, from the Fraser Coast to Cooktown.
- Bush and alpine
- Bushfire prevention and cultural burning. Bush, hinterland and alpine stays, such as the Blue Mountains, Scenic Rim, Snowy Mountains and Adelaide Hills.
- Everywhere else
- Shared across the causes. Every other stay’s $2 is split between our causes.
Charity partners
We are choosing the registered charities now and will name them here, with their ABNs, before the first payment. Until then the pledges are held in our records against each cause.
Keeping it open
- The running total on this page and on the home page comes straight from our giving records.
- Once payments begin, we will list each payment here: the charity, the amount and the date.
- Hosts see what stays at their places have given on their dashboard.
