Terms of use
These terms cover the use of the OzGetaways website and app by guests and hosts. They are a placeholder while our full terms are finalised, and nothing here creates a booking or a listing.
Fees
Guests pay a 12% service fee on the accommodation subtotal, included in the total price shown before booking, including on stays with a Founding Host. A guest returning to the same home within 12 months of a completed stay there pays 6%. No fee appears for the first time at checkout.
Hosts pay a 0% host fee. This is our standard host fee for every host. Founding Hosts (the first 2,500 qualifying properties) pay 0% host fees on every booking made from launch day, 30 November 2026, to 29 November 2031. This is guaranteed for those 5 years, whenever the host joins, and it does not lapse. Our standard host fee may change in future: we will give hosts notice before any change, it will apply only to bookings made after it takes effect, and Founding Hosts keep 0% on every booking made to 29 November 2031. Listing is free for life: there is no compulsory listing, subscription, payout, processing or admin fee. OzGetaways pays all card and payout processing fees. Optional paid upgrades (Listing Boost, Host Pro and Guest Plus) are offered separately, with their price and any renewal terms shown before payment; none of them is needed to list, book or be paid, and none changes a booking’s fees.
$2 from every confirmed booking goes to OzGetaways Gives: to reef water quality for stays on the Queensland reef coast, to bushfire prevention and cultural burning for bush, hinterland and alpine stays, and otherwise to bushfire and reef causes. It comes out of our fee and is never added to the guest’s price.
Who can book or host
You must be 18 or over to create an account, book a stay or list a property. By signing up you confirm that you are.
Bookings, cancellations and refunds
Each listing shows its cancellation policy (flexible, moderate or strict) before you book. Refunds follow that policy. Under the flexible policy you get a full refund up to 24 hours before check-in, and after that everything except the first night. Where a booking is cancelled with a full refund, the $2 giving pledge for that booking is reversed.
If a stay is paid in parts, a cancellation refund is worked out from what you have actually paid, and any payments not yet taken are cancelled.
Saved cards and later charges
When you request to book, you enter your card once and it is saved securely with our payment provider, Stripe. You are not charged unless the host accepts. By ticking the box at checkout you authorise OzGetaways to charge that card without you being present: for the booking when the host accepts, for any balance or later payment on the dates shown at checkout, and for damage the host claims that you agree to or that OzGetaways approves under our claims process.
Some stays can be paid in parts: part now and the rest before check-in, or a long stay month by month. The total price is the same whichever way you pay, and every charge and its date is shown before you book. If a charge does not go through, we email you and you can update your card. If a later payment is still unpaid after a few days, the booking is cancelled under the listing’s cancellation policy.
Taking a refund as OzGetaways credit
When you cancel and a refund is due, you can choose to have it back on your card (usually 5 to 10 business days), or as OzGetaways credit straight away with a bonus on top (5% at the moment). The credit from your refund can be used for 3 years. The bonus is promotional credit with its own end date (12 months). Credit can only be spent on OzGetaways stays and has no cash value. The choice is yours each time, and a refund to your card is always available.
Your account and conduct
Keep your account details accurate and your password private. Treat hosts, guests and properties with respect, follow the house rules, and only list a property you are entitled to let, with any registration your state requires.
