Standards
A guest should arrive and find exactly what they booked. These are the standards every listing on OzGetaways meets, and what we ask of guests in return.
Accurate
- Photos are of this property, as it is now, without edits that change what a guest will find.
- The description, the number of bedrooms, beds and bathrooms, and the guest limit match the place.
- Every amenity listed is there and working. If the pool is closed for winter or the spa is out of action, the listing says so.
- The map location and the suburb are right. Guests see an approximate location until the booking is confirmed.
- Access features are listed only when they are really there, with a photo that shows them.
Legal
- You are allowed to let the property: you own it or have the owner’s written permission, and strata or council rules allow short stays.
- Where your state or council requires a short-stay registration number (for example NSW and WA), it is on the listing before it goes live.
- You follow your state’s rules on smoke alarms, pool barriers and any short-stay levy.
Safe
- Working smoke alarms, and pool and spa barriers that meet your state’s rules.
- A first aid kit and a fire blanket or extinguisher that guests can find.
- No cameras or recording devices inside the home. Outdoor cameras are shown on the listing.
- Anything a guest should know before booking is disclosed: steep stairs, unfenced water, a working farm, livestock, a long dirt road.
Clean and ready
- Clean at every check-in, with fresh linen and towels where the listing includes them.
- The basics the listing promises are there: toilet paper, soap, a working kitchen if it has one.
- Check-in details that work: codes, keys and lockboxes tested, directions clear.
Honestly priced
- Guests see the total price upfront. Everything the stay costs is in the listing: the nightly rate and any cleaning fee. No bond is taken; damage goes through a GetawayShield claim.
- No extra charges asked for at the door or after the stay, and no payments outside OzGetaways.
- The cancellation policy on the listing is the one you honour.
Responsive and fair
- Reply to booking requests within 24 hours, and to guests during a stay as quickly as you can.
- Honour confirmed bookings. A host cancellation leaves a guest stranded, so we take repeated cancellations seriously.
- Welcome every guest regardless of race, religion, disability, sex, sexuality, gender identity, age or family status, within the law.
- Reviews are honest. Never ask for a good review in return for anything, and never pressure a guest about their review.
Founding Host listings
On top of everything above, a listing qualifies for the Founding Host offer with:
- A valid state short-stay registration number where one is required (for example NSW STRA).
- At least 8 photos.
- At least 60 open nights in the next 12 months.
Founding Host places go to the first 2,500 qualifying properties. Founding Hosts pay 0% host fees on every booking made from launch day, 30 November 2026, to 29 November 2031, guaranteed for those 5 years. We cover card fees. Details are on Fees.
What we ask of guests
- Treat the home as you would want yours treated, and leave it as you found it.
- Stick to the number of guests booked and the house rules, including any rules on parties, pets and noise.
- Be a good neighbour: quiet at night, and park where the host asks.
- Tell the host straight away if something breaks. Accidents happen; hiding them causes the trouble.
- Keep bookings, payments and messages on OzGetaways.
When a standard is not met
- We talk to you firstMost things are an oversight. We explain what is wrong and how to fix it.
- We may pause the listingIf guests could be affected, the listing is hidden from search until it is fixed. Existing bookings are looked after under the GetawayShield™ guarantee.
- We remove what cannot staySerious or repeated breaches, anything unsafe, discrimination or fraud can lead to the listing or the account being removed.
