Guests see the total price upfront, with the 12% service fee already included. No fee appears for the first time at checkout.
No host fees, so prices can be lower than on other platforms.

Both sides of the fee: the host fee plus the guest service fee. A shorter bar means less taken from the booking.

Our fees
Fees are a percentage of the accommodation subtotal: the nightly rate times the nights, plus any cleaning fee. The first rule that fits a booking applies.

A returning guest is a guest with a completed stay at the same home, with check-out in the last 12 months. Another home by the same host does not count. A returning guest of a Founding Host pays 6% too.
Founding Host places go to the first 2,500 qualifying properties. Founding Hosts pay 0% host fees on every booking made from launch day, 30 November 2026, to 29 November 2031. This is guaranteed for those 5 years, whatever happens to the standard rate, and it does not lapse. Founding Hosts also get priority placement.
0% is our standard host fee today. If it ever changes, we will give notice first, and Founding Hosts keep 0% to 29 November 2031. No rate is ever for life. Two things are for life: listing is free, and the Founding Host badge stays on the listing.
Each booking keeps the fees it was booked on. If our settings change later, existing bookings do not.

Guest pays is the total shown in search and on the listing, before any state levy (below). No bond is taken: damage is handled by GetawayShield claims, and no fee is taken from a claim.

Stayz host fee: approx. 5% commission plus 3% payment processing plus GST. The Stayz guest service fee varies by stay. We never show a made-up competitor price for a listing.
Airbnb takes approx. 15.5% from hosts. Our host fee is 0%, guaranteed for Founding Hosts to 29 November 2031, so the host keeps 100% of the stay price. Our 12% guest service fee is in the price the guest sees. (Airbnb and Stayz approx., as at September 2026.)
Fees we never charge
- Free to list. Optional upgrades if you want more. There is no compulsory listing, subscription, payout, processing or admin fee, and listing on OzGetaways is free for life. Listing Boost, Host Pro and Guest Plus are optional, priced upfront, and never needed to list, book or be paid.
- No card or payout processing fees for hosts or guests: we pay them.
- No fee that appears for the first time at checkout.
$2 from every booking goes to local charities through OzGetaways Gives
It comes out of our fee and is never added to the guest’s price. Stays on the Queensland reef coast give to reef water quality; bush, hinterland and alpine stays give to bushfire prevention and cultural burning. See OzGetaways Gives.
GST, damage claims and levies
- GST: all our fees include GST.
- Damage claims: no bond is taken. Damage is handled by GetawayShield claims; a claim charged to a guest is paid to the host in full, with no fee, no GST from us and no $2.
- The GetawayShield fund: we set aside 0.5% of our own fees on every booking to back GetawayShield. It is not an extra fee and changes nothing anyone pays.
- Gift cards and credit: no fees after purchase, valid for 3 years. Credit pays part or all of the total like a card does; the service fee and any levy are the same, and refunds go back to your wallet and card in proportion. See gift cards.
- State levies: Victoria (7.5%) and the ACT (5%, rising to 7.5% from 1 July 2027) charge a levy on platform bookings of stays under 28 nights. It is shown as a named line inside the total, paid by the guest and passed to the state. It is not our revenue and no fee is charged on it. A Victorian principal place of residence and an ACT hosted stay are exempt.
