Staying safe as a guest
Pay only through OzGetaways, know what to check when you arrive and how to report a problem.
Before you book
- Pay only through OzGetaways. Never transfer money to a host directly, and tell us if anyone asks you to.
- Read the house rules, the cancellation policy and the safety disclosures. Hosts tell us about pools, unfenced water, steep stairs, animals and any cameras outside the home.
- Check the reviews. Reviews can only be left by guests who have completed a stay.
When you arrive
- Find the smoke alarms and the exits. In an apartment, look for the evacuation diagram.
- Check the pool gate closes and latches if you are travelling with children.
- If anything is not as described, photograph it and message the host straight away, then let us know if it is not sorted.
In an emergency
Call 000 for police, fire or ambulance. Then tell us.
Cameras and recording
Hosts must disclose any camera or recording device, and none are allowed inside the home. If you find one, leave, keep the evidence and contact us.
GetawayShield
Stays booked and paid on OzGetaways are protected by GetawayShield: if the host cancels, you cannot get in, or the place is not as described or unsafe, use Urgent help on your booking and a person on our team helps you rebook or refunds you. See GetawayShield.
What OzGetaways does not provide
GetawayShield is a guarantee from OzGetaways, not insurance. OzGetaways does not provide travel insurance or cover for your belongings or injury. Consider your own travel insurance from an insurer for a trip that matters to you.
