Photos and video that get bookings
How many photos to add, what to shoot, how to pick a cover, and how to film a 15 to 30 second walkthrough on your phone.
Photos are the first thing a guest looks at and the main reason they keep reading. You can add up to 30. One is enough to mark the listing ready; eight is the Founding Host minimum, and 15 to 25 is the sweet spot.
What to shoot
- The outside, from the street or the garden, so people recognise it when they arrive.
- Every bedroom, made up as a guest would find it.
- The living area and kitchen from the doorway, so the whole room is in frame.
- The bathroom, clean and with the lid down.
- The view, the deck, the pool, the fire pit: whatever people will actually do there.
- One or two details: the coffee machine, the outdoor shower, the board rack.
How to shoot
- Daylight, with the lights on and the curtains open. Mid-morning or late afternoon is kindest.
- Landscape (sideways) for rooms, portrait only for tall details.
- Hold the phone at chest height and keep it level. Straight walls look bigger than tilted ones.
- Clear the benches, hide the bins and cords, and put the toilet lid down.
- Do not use heavy filters. Guests should recognise the place when they walk in.
Choosing the cover
The cover is the first photo in your list. Drag to reorder. Pick the shot that says the most about the place in one glance, usually the outside with the view or the living area with the doors open. We never change your cover photo or captions for you.
The video
A 15 to 30 second walkthrough shot on your phone does more than another ten photos. Film it vertical, in one slow take, starting outside and walking in. Sunrise or golden hour is the easy win. Add a one-line caption such as "Sunrise from the deck". Files can be MP4, MOV or WebM up to 100 MB. Videos from iPhones are converted before launch so they play in every browser.
