House rules, check-in and cancellation policies
Choose Flexible, Moderate or Strict, set quiet hours and pets, and know the 24-hour grace period that applies to every booking.
Cancellation policies
Pick one per listing. Guests see it before they book, in plain words.
- Flexible: full refund if the guest cancels at least 24 hours before check-in.
- Moderate: full refund up to 7 days before check-in, then a 50% refund.
- Strict: full refund up to 30 days before check-in. After that, no refund.
Whatever you choose, a guest may cancel free of charge within 24 hours of booking when check-in is 7 or more days away. That grace period is a platform rule and is shown to guests next to your policy.
Check-in and check-out
Set your check-in time (3 pm by default) and check-out time (10 am by default), and how guests get in: a lockbox, a smart lock, a keypad, in person or something else. The method is shown on the listing; the code and the instructions are sent only to guests with a confirmed booking.
House rules
- Quiet hours, for example 10 pm to 8 am.
- Whether parties and events are allowed (they are not, unless you say so).
- Pets: yes or no, and how many. There is no pet fee at the moment; any damage is handled by a GetawayShield claim.
- Smoking.
- Anything else in your own words, up to 2,000 characters.
Damage and the bond
No bond is taken from guests. GetawayShield damage claims replace it: if something is damaged, claim from the booking within 14 days of check-out with photos and a receipt or quote. Your guest can accept, offer less or dispute, and OzGetaways decides if you do not agree. An agreed or approved amount is charged to the guest's saved card and paid to you, with no fee. If the guest cannot pay, GetawayShield pays you from its fund, up to $5,000 a stay. It is a guarantee from OzGetaways, not insurance. Older bookings may still show a bond amount; it was never charged.
